Slow fashion inspired by Indian and European diaspora

Antiek East unearths what history tried to silence. It tells the story of India’s rich textile heritage, of handwoven fabrics, indigenous dyeing techniques, and heirloom silhouettes that were unraveled and overwritten during British colonisation.

About Us

The brand explores how ancient techniques and forgotten crafts can be reimagined into contemporary heirlooms, bringing handwoven textiles and artisanal processes back into modern wardrobes. At its core, Antiek East is a fashion diaspora - a dialogue between Indian and European fashion sensibilities, shaped by history, migration, and identity. Our collections revisit the period of the East India Company, when countless indigenous crafts were disrupted, diluted, or erased. We are committed to bringing those crafts back to life not as museum artefacts, but as living, wearable pieces of art. From the fine khadi cotton of Gujarat to hand block printing from Rajasthan, each garment is carefully made in collaboration with artisan communities across India. Every thread carries the trace of a hand, every imperfection a reminder of something human.

Abha Gupta

Abha Gupta’s journey began in India, where her background in Textile Design shaped her distinctive voice in handloom weaving. After moving to Australia, she expanded her practice through innovative explorations in handwoven suitings and contemporary draping techniques. Driven by a deep commitment to experimentation, her work continues to evolve through the use of non-violent silk and traditional block printing. Rooted in Indian craftsmanship yet globally attuned, Abha continually reinterprets established traditions to envision new possibilities.
